Structural Mechanical and Piping Estimator
JOB DESCRIPTION

LGM is a leading provider of Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) services, specialising in fixed plant maintenance and capital projects for the resource and energy sectors in Western Australia. 

The Position

LGM Industries is seeking a suitably qualified individual to join the tendering team. As a Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) Estimator you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our tendering department in estimating the costs associated with structural elements, mechanical systems and piping installations. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for fixed plant, structural steel, mechanical and piping systems including materials, labour, equipment and subcontracting costs. 
  • Quantify the materials required for all components of each tender submission.
  • Complete cost estimates and schedules for workshop fabrication and site construction.
  • Compile comprehensive tender documentation, adhering to company standards and client specifications ensuring industry standards are met. 
  • Analysing SMP designs, drawings, plans and models to accurately assess project scope and project constraints.
  • Identify potential risks associated with each submission.
  • Review and interpret tender documentation at all levels.
  • Understand contractual management and obligations.
  • Sourcing and liaising with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Coordinating site visits and meetings with clients.
  • Participate in post tender negotiations.

About You:

  • Trade or engineering background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanical and piping systems and configurations.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience servicing the industrial and/or resource sector.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office software, especially MS Excel and MS Project.
  • Desired experience with Primavera P6.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional demeanour.
  • High level of technical knowledge and meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in material quantity and costs.
  • Knowledge or understanding of project management principles.
  • Highly self-motivated with the initiative to work efficiently without supervision.
  • Knowledge of tank construction advantageous.
  • High level of business acumen and professionalism.
